New location today for the opening sequence of the song. Up a country lane, near to the airfield we were at yesterday. Started shooting at nine o'clock.
The rest of the boys went home and I stood for the next 3 hours freezing my bollocks off and having rocks chucked at my head whilst trying to lipsync the song at twice the speed. It was so cold today.
After lunch we went to location three, a barley field. We shot the arrow scene here.
The special effects man had got news today that he'd beennominated for an Oscar for the special effects in 'Saving Private Ryan' . Stephen Speilberg had sent him a bottle of Champagne and a thankyou note.
I told him he was going to win an Oscar but he wasn't having any of it. He's gonna win though.
Time is beginning to creep up on us. We had to finish the arrow scene and go back to the airfield before the sun went down to shoot Ruby in the spitfire cockpit.
The van carrying all the camera equipment got stuck in the mud. The crew pushed it out though and we got to the airstrip half an hour before sundown and we shot Ruby in the cockpit.
Tomorrow we have to go back to the field again to finish the arrow scene. Doug, Neil and Andy are coming out for midday.
