Gosh you guys have been part of my life for so long! When my husband and I first got together – SING wouid play as soon as we entered anywhere! Pub, shop, mall. Your albums have followed us through moving countries, to having kids.
I’m a kiwi (why didn’t you come!), and the first time I saw you was a visit to London in 2024 whwn you were supporting The Killers. Two for one, I couldn’t believe my luck! I was there with my brother and his 16 year old daughter. My niece. Her mum had died three years before, that was the main reason I was visiting.
So before you sang CLOSER, you told us all to think about someone we loved and missed and couldn’t be near. My little niece had tears running down her cheeks as you sang. She wanted her mum by her side. I was thinking of her too. Now whenever I hear that song, I think of that moment. It was sad, but we needed our cry.
We’re just chilling over here in NZ. Kids have left for University, so it’s just us and Spotify. Thanks for all of the great songs and memories. I love hearing your anecdotes on why you wrote certain songs Fran. Funny that you were competing in your head with Oasis. I still can’t figure them out either. Bit soulless.
Lots of love to you all.

PS – can you please come to New Zealand next time? It’s not just Aussie diwn here!
