One of my picks has to be Sgt Pepper’s. Imagine getting that upon its release in 1967 . . . On first glance, it’s a psychedelic image representative of the time. But diving deeper, it’s striking seeing all their sources of inspiration standing behind them. Like this is what made them who they are. I still don’t know all the ppl there. For anyone interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_images_on_the_cover_of_Sgt._Pepper’s_Lonely_Hearts_Club_Band
For Travis, it’s LA Times. The lighting is perfect, it’s the closest single framed shot of the band, and it’s a mini homage to Abbey Road. Fun fact: Abbey Road is the first ever record cover without the album title or artist’s name.
Let’s see your picks for both.

As far as Travis album covers go, my favorite covers are The Invisible Band and The Boy With No Name.

Sgt Pepper ….. fun fact one of the heads on the cover is of artist Wallace Berman who also played a hippie in the movie Easy Rider even though technically he was a beatnik
My buds in the band UFOMAMMUT design their own covers and silkscreen limited edition versions of em ..I love em too but Sgt Pepper is a landmark

I always say my favourite album cover is ‘Dangerous’ by Michael Jackson. It’s kind of tacky, but I love it.

I find Wilco’s cover for “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” quite magnetic. It’s very simple – A shot of the Marina City towers against a beige background in Chicago, the band’s adopted hometown. Nothing fancy, but I really like it.

The cover of Hijera by Joni is one that always floats to the top of my memory. It looks like a double exposure. The cover of 12 Memories are 4 double exposures. For anyone who doesn’t know what that is, it’s when the photographer takes a photograph, remembers where the subject is in the composition, rolls the film back into the spool, carries on until they see an image they think will fit within the first one, then reloads the roll of film, winds it to the location of the first phot and then takes the second image on top of the first. In the case of 12 Memories, Anton took the portrait of me, took maybe 11, then rolled the film back and took the second shot over the top of the portrait. He would only know if it worked in the dark room as he was using a Hasselblad.

On the mention of 12 Memories, that’s probably my favourite Travis cover as it happens! Fits the mood of the album very well. (They all do TBF!).
One of my favourites in general is Under The Iron Sea by Keane, I just love that art style. Great album, too!
