How do you feel about writing in English here? Honestly, I’m feel a little rusty, Spanish is my mother tongue and I barely use English at work or in my daily activities, just read some news and listen music, and being here, in this forum is a challenge to complete all my thoughts!! 20 years ago I used to have beside me a dictionary for translate, now we have AI or Google translate, but I don’t want to use it, so how do you feel? It’s easy for you?

Writing in English frustrates me, so now I use AI to translate. If I weren’t so wordy, I’d try to write it myself, but unfortunately I talk way too much.😂 I think the good thing about AI translation is that I can express myself freely and still get an accurate translation. It also helps me reply faster. But I truly admire non-native English speakers who insist on translating everything themselves.

It’s not easy, but I like to practise. Twenty years ago I started to write a lot on the message board, and that was what made me improve a lot and build my vocabulary – I believe practice makes perfect. Also I like writing in Spanish too, so I think motivation is not a problem. Personally, I don’t use AI (not for this, not for nothing), I guess I’m not used to it just yet. Although I do google sometimes when I don’t remember how some words are written, so pretty much I try not to have misspellings… sometimes unsuccessfully, ha

But I do believe that is a safe space to practise, I have always felt this way, people are too nice, I mean, english speakers.

I was thinking about this the other day, participating in forums, watching interviews, films, series in english… Been a great excuse to practice and improve my english skills. I’m not an expert cause there’re still english words I don’t know, I have to google everytime I get that 🙉
I don’t know here but other forums I follow, one of their rules is only english speaking…My mom told me the other day listening music is a great way to learn english.

Just having this space and respecting it is great, I think. My native language is Portuguese (pt-br), and using translation technology in English helps a lot in expanding my repertoire along with reading.
Before, when I couldn’t read, I only looked at the images and words on Travis’s forum I knew very little, but now I can write and communicate better this time, and I’m loving everything.❤️🫂

When it comes to language learning, there is no other way than practising consistently, and we all start from zero. Motivation, no matter what it is, is what makes you go forward.

Yes! Only when it comes to speaking. I’m still not very good because I lack practice, but I can understand everything. If I can understand a Scottish accent, I already consider that a victory!🤣😅 Besides, I think it’s beautiful, even though sometimes I don’t understand a single word when I hear it. 😄

It’s difficult, as a spanich speaker, it was so complicated all news, articles or notices about our favourite music is written in english, so, you have to pay for learning the language and practice a lot to communicate.. But as @Fran give us permission, podemos hablar en español so the guys could finally learn spanich
