The American Boardie Convention in Chicago in 2009 was so epic and one of my most cherished memories! Boardies traveled from all over the country (and even around the world!) to come together for a Travis show.
So much happened that weekend that it’s impossible to capture it all in one post. Thankfully, I have an entire Facebook album full of photos to prove it happened—if only I were tech-savvy enough to post them here!
A few of my favorite memories:
• Waiting in line for hours with Flat Travis
• Walking past the tour bus and spotting Fran standing in the window waiting for us. We ended up getting photos with him before the show, and he was incredibly kind as always.
• The surprise of the weekend: Sandy getting proposed to on stage!
• Bubbles floating through the air during Closer
• Getting a photo with the gong after the show thanks to Nick
• Chicago-style pizza, a night out filled with dancing, laughing, and absolute chaos in the best possible way
• My fellow Detroit girl Kayte and I making the trip to Ohio the very next day for another show because one Travis gig was never enough
More than anything, I remember the friendships. Meeting people I’d only known online and instantly feeling like we’d known each other forever was something really special.
I’d love to hear what everyone else remembers most from that weekend! -

Such a fun weekend! I was so exhausted, but in a good way!

I remember it well. The flat Travis project. Haha. We loved this. All of these memories are so special. And the community that gathered on the original messageboard and who travelled for the show. I still have pics of Sandy getting betrothed. Friendship and good bookmarks is what it’s all about.
Lovely to see you here Nikki

I Came in Through the Bathroom Window
Even though I couldn’t make it, I’ve still got an original ABC t-shirt that Meridith got me for a Secret Santa exchange! I wore it for years!

That was so much fun! It was surreal being plopped up on stage.
I do love our gong pic with Nick.
