| Yeah I think all that. The hands, the wings, the colours etc will come together somehow and be the art work. I hope so. I really like it and it really fits with the music. J Smith, Chinese Blues and Broken Mirror especially I think just pop out at me when I see those pictures and colours. We'll have to wait and see. Fran did say he was going to scan in his art work... Fran?... |

Spooky!!! lol Doesn't really suit the songs though. Won't be anything like that but I can see where you got the idea after the gothicness of J Smith.
I'm pretty sure Fran has already said in the blogs that the art work is hand drawn anyway. Has he not? |

yeah! Spooky indeed! I know it won´t be anything like that, but I think I imagined that picture not only because of the gothicness of J Smith, but also because we all are J. Smiths for death. You know what I mean?? |

yeah! Spooky indeed! I know it won´t be anything like that, but I think I imagined that picture not only because of the gothicness of J Smith, but also because we all are J. Smiths for death. You know what I mean??

It could be something like that but without the fence, Travis instead of The Beatles and more people all walking on a crowded city street?
I also think it will have the wings. And I think it will have the colour of the t-shirt they were selling at the gigs in february as a background colour. Or not... I liked the crowd idea too.

I think it makes sense to put all of these clues together when creating your own artwork for the album, using the same styles of colour and text. They wouldn't have created t-shirts that have no visual relevance to the forthcoming album.
I think that the picture of the cropped praying hands above could be placed onto the coloured background of the t-shirt (Light blue lines, dark red background), like the wings on the t-shirt.
Maybe someone could use the photos above to create a mock-up of this, cropping the angel wings as well accordingly, also adding your own extra visualisations. What do you think?
If this is the font, it'll be a new one for Travis. Instead of the usual Avant Garde that's P22's London Underground.

I really like this idea... infact, I've got the Belle and Sebastian calendar 2008 on my wall and there is a beautiful picture of the people in the streets of Glasgow with the members in the band lost in the crowd. I have only found Stuart and Chris but the concept would be interesting for the new Travis album! :) |

I was aware of those praying hands but i forgot it. Also i never saw those little wings. So maybe the artwork may have such thing included on it.
For what i have seen and read it seems that almost everybody pictures the artwork as something dark and/or gloomy. |

I'm picturing a Joshua Tree type shot of the band.....something where you can see their age.
They are much more mature....okay, older....than when they were at their most popular. The cover should reflect not only their maturity but that of the music as well. |

An almost three-quarter view behind a young lad, in his twenties, hunched over a small desk, writing. A pair of red sneakers is haphazardly strewn to his left. A single door out of the room is barely visible off in the distance. "Travis, Ode to J. Smith" in the upper right corner.
This all came to mind almost instantly. Don't know what it means.
