tee hee, it amuses me how I've managed to create such a girly thread when I'm probably one of the least girliest girls you'll ever meet!!

Still struggling with how to do the wedding...ideas we have considered so far include - renting a villa in Italy and inviting closest famly, getting married on our own in Slovenia, getting married on a beach in New Zealand, getting married in the register office in the next county and inviting the family/or just doing it on our own and telling everyone later!!

Argh!! It's too hard to decide, I wish someone else would decide for us!!! Volunteers?! ;)

Write down your top 3 options and pull one from a hat. I would nix the beach option. Beach sounds romantic, but the beach is usually incredibly windy (Hair! Dress!) and you never know who's going to be around. Plus the ocean is LOUD. Also, you'd have to have a back-up location if the weather isn't nice. I'd say get married in your own country. It's easier. Trust me, you'll have enough to worry about without coordinating an international wedding. Start crocheting a bride and groom cake topper. How about August 8th? 08-08-08, you'll never forget your anniversary.

Hmm, I suppose doing the villa thing on our own could be an option though...hmmm.....

Nikki, I am totally digging on the Stanley Cup bridal cake for you. That would be so awesome.

And moominbadger, all of your options sound great. Maybe you should take Kayte's suggestion, if only perhaps once something comes out of the hat it might help you realize that you really were wishing option X had come out of the hat.

EDIT: I also agree that a beach wedding is better in theory than reality. The wind, the sand, ugh. I was just a guest and even if you're barefoot and on the casual side it just gets old.

Also if you set the date far enough in advance then probably most everyone who matters to you will be able to attend.

Awww cupcakes! I agree with Anne- the first three are cute, the last one is disgusting, lol! The sad part about this is, about five years ago, my two best girlfriends and I got together for a night of playoff hockey, pizza and beer and we decided to make red and white cupcakes with the Red Wings players numbers on them! LOL! I have a picture of them somewhere...it was so fun. :D

Yeah, too gross for a bridal shower. Looks like something they scraped off the ice at the Joe.

I went to one of those places that does most of the stuff there...had the ceremony in their small-ish chapel and just walked over to the reception, a huge room that the same place had all decorated, etc. and served the food and cake and so on. I just had to take care of the preacher guy, photographer, DJ and alcohol. I met with the place several times to taste cake and decide on colors, menus, decorations and stuff. I got my dress (off the rack) and we ordered tuxes for my hubby and his best man. My sister was my maid of honor and she bought her dress like at Macy's or something. I took care of any alterations to my dress and even added personal touches to the cake and my veil, using fabric I had chosen to match my dress. Anyway, we got our rings a few days before (I already had an engagement ring) and had to do the marriage license thing. I planned the whole thing in like 3 months and everyone said they had the best time at the reception. I dunno cause I was too busy walking around talking to ppl in a daze. Hehe...anyway, if I had to do it all again, I'd probably just do a quickie wedding and have a huge bash to celebrate!
