I went to work on Thursday morning and was told to be on a flight to Greece at 3:15! I was also given a good bit of spending money and told to enjoy myself...

^ Not bad at all, I wish someone would send me away, all expenses covered, and no other place than Greece, wow!
@Sarah, I really really like the architecture of your city!! I'd love to live in a place with so much history, though I'm used to having the ocean just minutes away of my home and I'd feel claustrofobic without it...
Uruguayan authorities have done little to preserve the colonial look of some of our towns:
Neighbourhood called Ciudad vieja (Old city)
Independence Square
@Leti, yes! The rambla is the perfect place to go with friends, have máte, tortas fritas and a nice chat. I usually feel the need to go there alone, the sea breeze in my face is the best medicine when my mind is over-thinking and with Travis in the earphones, of course!
Port
Open-air theatre called Teatro de Verano ("Summer Theatre", the white structure you see there is where our carnival is held, also rock concerts with a little over 4,000 people capacity
Sunset
@Fer, I had no idea what Puerto Vallarta looked like, it's gorgeous! Another place I'll have to add to my list...

1) my god, yes ! i also like if my job would send me abroad like this :-) wow, would be too great ! and Greece seemed to be nice too :-)
2) thanx girls for your nice comments, my town and what is around is SO MUCH DIFFERENTof your towns !
i was sincere & honest when i wrote i really thought you would find my french country really annoying :-(
3) it is somewhere a pity your government did not keep some stuff of before..but maybe it was their way to destruct and erase this part of the history of your country that they did not like...destruct and built something else on it..like a reborn town...just to forget and turn a page of history...
4) great pics from the plane :-o
Here is one the bigger castel of the castels of La Loire, where i live.
CASTEL OF CHAMBORD
16e century - architecture Renaissance - construction began in 1519.
Le Château de Chambord is the castel of the french king François 1er, brother of Marguerite de Navarre.
After his death, the castel has different owners like the king Henri 2, Gaston d'Orléans brother of Louis13, Louis 14 "le roi soleil" who allowed Molière to play for the 1st time into it his theatre Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, after it was Stanislas Leszczynski king of Poland and after Napoléon 1er gave the castel to the the Maréchal Berthier.. you see.. the castel had seen many people :-)
Now since 1930 the castel is the property of the French State and keeps on safeguarding it.
Here are some of my pics because talking is good but showing is better :-) History can sound annoying sometimes haha ;-)
the big stairs (16e era)
the colors aren't flashy because there wasn't a lot of light in those rooms...
in 1, the billiard room, in 2 the blue bedroom of the Queen and in 3 the red bedroom of the King with velvet embroidered with gold
the room for the fox hunting of the King

PADIRAC
the ONLY pic i was allowed to take, at the beginning before climbing in the little boat :-)

Oh I'd love to have sea near my house... Although Parana River is huge... it's not the same. Sea breeze + Travis = Perfect Heaven Space : P

You know, I'm a huge fan of HIstory, so for me this is a treat. I saw a documentary once about this castle. It's amazing and huuuge! It has 8 towers, I think they are all different, or something like that. Beautiful :) I'm a huge fan of castles myself!
Edinburgh Castle
View from Edi castle
Cardiff Castle
Norman keep in Cardiff Castle :P
Tower of London
Tower of London from the outside (plus a huge smile)
Bleheim Palace in Woodstock. Birthplace and ancestral home of Churchill
Castello Sforzesco in Milan
It's so sad when ancient buildings are knoched down. Beautiful sctructures are demolished and parking lots are build after... It has happened here in Rosario. Sometimes, there's not enough money to repair the building so it's cheaper to knock it down...
More pics Sara!! :) |
