My top 7 from TBWNN are also really similar. In no order they are...
1- "3 Times and You Lose"
2- "Selfish Jean"
3- "Closer"
4- "Battleships"
5- "Eyes Wide Open"
6- "My Eyes"
7- "Colder"
..."One Night", "Big Chair" and "Sailing Away" would tie for the 8th spot. :P

Yep I thought exactly the same.
Listening to it the second time this morning, I like it more than last night. I like the first half better than the second half, I reckon it maybe starts to lose it a bit towards the end. The 'Oh you say get up' bridge bit makes the song for me. I like the 'ooh' bit at the end of it especially. :D |

The chorus is a bit too repetitive but after the second listen, I don't mind lol. I'm not sure about the bridge, it's the only thing that I don't really like, and no matter how many times I listen, I still don't like it. Maybe I should give it some time.
I read a comment from a Muse fan recently about a Muse song, and they said that the verse was better than the chorus and i thought 'i've never thought that about any song ever.' Well, i think this about Get Up! The verses are brilliant and I think the bridge is better than the chorus. :)
I concur - Its not my favourite but I cant stop singing it! |

I totally agree. I love the "ooh" bit! |

Get Up is definitely my favourite track out of these three. It's got great rhythm and i just love the lyrics.
This EP is really like a caleidoscope: turn a new angle and you get a different Travis every time. And each song has the something that just grabs and hypnotises you: the guitar and choir in J.Smith, the rhythm in Get Up, the piano that's like a rippling brook in Sarah.
In this sense the cover artwork and contents are in perfect harmony: they make you dizzy in a really nice way :)

Get up is my favourite. Its different and i like the rhythm track on it.
I still think j.smith will have people thinking WTF but not necessarily in bad way.
I just think for some people it might be too out there. |

Personally, I think it's poor. It's like an overly conscious effort to get back to Good Feeling, lots of repitition, lots of attitude. But the song's not at all strong enough. It's okay on first listen but never develops from there, and I think after a prologed listen will start to get really irritating rather than grow on me.
Just don't really like it. Sure it's probably more in tone with the rest of the album, but for me Sarah is so much better than Get Up it's scary when you realise which is the album track and which is the b-side. |

Have you heard the others? If not, don't worry about the album. I had the same scares as you with Get Up. Great live track, good festival tune but after repeated listens... mmm. BUT the more I listen, the more I like actually. :)
You'll enjoy the album. Get Up is a bit different, I could hear that live. The rest of the album is a lot more simple rock based. Andy's screaming guitar, Claes' piano etc. |

Ashamed to say I tried to listen to the concert recordings on youtube. So in other words, am now deaf in one ear from so much cracking, and pretty much none the wiser about the album. So I giess that's a no!
Gutted, because had I been in the country I'd have gone to one of the gigs.
But have heard enough to realise it's gonna be a hell of an album - would just be even better if Sarah was on it! |

I have better audio than that on youtube, which is mostly very, very poor.
The gigs were amazing and live, Get Up is fantastic, especially the start which they took out for some reason.
Yeah, I would also have loved Sarah on it but Fran says it was too late for inclusion. I don't know where it could have gone. Possibly after Last Words and before Song To Self. That could have worked. Don't see anywhere else for it but in between those two would have been nice. :) |

Was woken by Clay saying "Papa. Papa. Papa. Papa. Papa. Papa. Papa. Papa. Papa. Papa. Papa... " I think he must have said it 30 times. A very nice way to wake up.
Get Up, if you look at the lyrics, is as if Clay wrote the song to Fran first thing in the morning!
I set Get Up as my alarm this morning and it was hilarious! |

Well put!
I really like Get Up a lot. Driving rhythm and I really like the harmonies.
I know it's not about that but it makes me think of a mom or dad trying to wake up a teenager. "Gotta get up!" "I don't wanna get up"
All three songs are great in my book but also agree with Gladly that J. Smith might be a bit too out there for some. I don't care though because I like it. |
