The REM gig last night reminded me of one:
In Drive, I used to think it went 'maybe you're crazy and the hair'. He is in fact singing 'maybe you're crazy in the head'.
Sort of makes more sense, doesn't it.

Hold on Loosely.
Doesn't it make sense that they're saying, "Hold on loosely, but don't let go; if you cling too tightly you're gonna blow your load."? I thought it was about masturbation, apparently not. |

I've posted this before, but I think it's quite funny ;)
In Long Way Down I heard: "I watch Smeagol passing all these people" the first time I listened to it... |

Green Day "Time of Your Life"
What I hear:
Tattoos and memories
and Danskin on trial
Actual lyric:
Tattoos of memories
and dead skin on trial
Fairly close but amusing to think of a dance apparel company being on trial. |

Stevie Nicks, Edge of Seventeen
What i thought it was: just like a wild wind blows
apperently it is: just like a white winged dove |

Oh, when I first listen to an English song I always understand something completely wrong.
The best example I got is "Mhairi's Wedding", a traditional Scottish song. There is a line that says:
"Past the shieling through the town
All for sake of Mhairi"
I always understood:
"Put a shilling through the tongue
All for sake of Mhairi"
and I thought: "Ouch, that gotta hurt!!!" ;)
It's defenitely not easy when it isn't your language... |

My mum is so sweet!
She always wants me to play Flowers In The Windows or Rock Around The Clock(AIWTDIR)
Sometimes I can hear her humming: nananana rock around the clock
It's funny that she doesn't know the words of the only Travis line she sings ;) |

I heard someone at the mall singing: "You're beaaans, oh yeah you're beans and scones"
Hope that it was intentionally. |

I just randomly thought of this.
INXS- Never Tear Us Apart
I thought "I'd make wine from your tears" was "I may cry, vomit tears."
I thought that for the longest time, and also thought it was the stupidest lyric and didnt understand why anyone would write that! Turns out, they didnt. |

We turn the radio OFF to hear a song

We turn the radio ON to hear a song
I usually turn the radio on to hear a song....

Come on, oh my star is fading
And I swerve out of control

When i was at college there was a lad that used to sing Billie Jean by Michael Jackson but he used to sing:
"Billie Jean, rock my lover" instead of "Billy Jean is not my lover"
He used to make me cry laughing whenever he sang it! |
