I wish Anne would stop trying to force her left-wing agendas on all of us with those bumper stickers of hers. |

Why was your driver's license experience stressful?
It's just a stressful process. All those tests and the person sitting there in your passenger seat watching everything you do! Although my last road test (we have a graduated system so you take a written test and 2 road tests before you are a full 100% licensed driver) was awesome and the tester was super funny and we made fun of old people drivers the whole time |

I never had to take a road test. Just a written test. And show that I had driven the required # of hours with an adult. It was easy-breezy.
I'm ready to fly now, please. |

wha?? Now, im not saying you are a bad driver, but seriusly, people should be tested before they can drive alone!!
I had:
written test
driving school (in class and in car)
8 months of driving with an adult (I think it is a year if you dont take driving school)
Road test
After the first road test you are pretty much fully licensed but there is 0 tolerance for alcohol and i think a few other things)
Then within 5 years you have to take another road test to prove you arent a complete screwup and then you are 100% good to go until you are old and your doctor says you shouldnt drive anymore |

For a brief period of time Texas changed the law so you just had to do driving lessons and take a written test to get your license. I got mine during that window so no test anxiety for me.
They changed it soon after. I cannot say for sure if it was in reaction to me being on the road or not. |

My brother got his pilot's license a couple of weeks ago, but he's done absolutely nothing about driving! |

I had driver's training at school which included classroom instruction and road time with the instructor.
Then I got a learner's permit and you have to drive however many hours with an adult.
Then to get the license I just had to show 'em my paperwork, take a written test and I was good to go with full privileges.
Things are different now, though. They have a graduated license process and all that. Poor, poor, children. (Tee hee) |

that at school driving training in American movies/on tv always confused me, but i guess it is real!
Also, the car crammed full of students in the backseat would freak me out. Here it is just one on one. Maybe that is just a movie thing? Or are there others in there with you? |

Okay--here's the way it worked at my school.
The driver's training was through the school and it was much less expensive than paying to go to driving school through Sears or wherever. It was held after school. And it was also open to anyone in the city who was 15, so we also had kids come from the Catholic school to our driver's training.
In the car there was the driving instructor and you in the front (we had the special car with breaks on both sides) and two kids in the back and we took turns driving. In my car was extremely quiet, nervous Doug, and crazy, zany, Jo from the Catholic school in town. It was kinda fun! |

ugh, i would never want people in the backseat while I was learning to drive. Ya, we had those double break car things too.
I took it through a company called Young Drivers and took my in class lessons all through march break one year. I guess grade...11. Was I 16 in grade 11? It was kinda a bummer because it was like 9-3 for 4 days of my March Break, but I also had a hilarious instructor and a bunch of my friends did it at the same time so it was fun. And the videos we watched were ridiculously funny. And i will never forget being on lunch break one day at a deli around the corner and my friend riding up on his bike in full out spandex cycling gear and me trying to hold in my laughter at him. |
