If your water hasn't broken it doesn't much matter what you do. It was serving two purposes: 1) my hair was nasty and needed to be washed and 2) if you're having contractions they sometimes suggest doing something else. If they continue it might actually be labor.

Indeed it was. And it was quick. I was in the hospital for 22 minutes before I had her. She was born at 12:28 so her birthday is tomorrow.
