Disgustingly bad, really poor from the Coens expected a lot better, desperately unfunny for a comedy as opposed to the original which was excellent. Tom Hanks was utter Gash and as for casting one of the Wayans in a "serious" comedy. Really very poor.

The Green Zone .
Very fast moving action right from the beginning and doesnt stop.
Good movie , although it will make you angry about how much of a mess has been created in the last few years in Iraq. |

Saw Shutter Island yesterday. I didn't like it and don't think it deserves the rave reviews it's had. Thought the whole story line was just a cop out. Reminded me why I haven't bothered wasting my money at the cinema in the past two years. |

As I was reading the movie listings yesterday, I noticed a trend. Movies that critics graded low, movie goers rated high, and vise versa; movies that critics graded high, rated low with movie goers.
Is this to say that critics are supposed to have such superb taste in cinema that they are out of touch with what the general slob on the street wants to watch? If so, what good is a professional critic?
I was at a party on Saturday and some poor science fiction geek was looking at me like I was out of my mind because I had no interest in seeing Avatar. He was saying it was the best movie he's ever seen and blah, blah, blah, and I was thinking, you know, I try to get along with everyone, but every once in a while I meet someone that I can't wait to get away from.
(It still bothers me to end a sentence with a preposition, but to say "...I meet someone from whom I cannot wait to get away," just sounds awkward and too formal.) |

A very good thriller, a little drawn out, could have done with being shorter (or perhaps I'm just getting used to Hollywood action every minute films). Solid performances from all actors. 9/10

my absolute favourite of all time
so beautiful
the message behind is so strong
you will be surprised if you watch it close enough
a lot of signs and symbolism are hidden in most of the scenes
-
great story
i love how the plot was developed
-
the best movie about love EVER
and it was so full of shocks that my jaw just literally kept dropping when i first saw this one
and it made me realize that love truly is the most complicated thing on earth |

What message ? It's a film about a man having a mid-life crisis.

so
at the beginning, the protagonist, Lester, was dissatisfied with his life and thought that he's somehow already dead anyways
he hated his life, his family, his job, his wife....
than he met Angela, Lester's daughter's luscious friend
and had put all of his passion, lust on this intriguing girl
Angela had stirred up Lester's desire to relive his youth
so quitted his job, worked at mr. smiley's, looking for the least responsibility so as to be happy
Lester was blinded by the rose petals from Angela and had forgotten how beautiful the roses his wife grew were
in the final scene, all Lester could think of were his wife and daughter, and that was what made him smile
quotes:
'I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world.'
'I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life...'
the film had demonstrated how insecurity and dissatisfaction could lead to unrealistic fantasies or foolish decisions
if we look closer, we'll find that the most beautiful things are already all around, and beauty is found where it is least expected
well maybe i've got it wrong
it's just my own understanding and thoughts on this film
it's still a VERY VERY beautiful film anyways |

I watched it yesterday and liked it although I figured out the big twist after the first 10 minutes. I'd expect something more from Scorsese but I don't think it was bad. |
