Oh, and we almost went to Turkey a couple of weeks ago, does that count?

Do elaborate please? :-P

Ahh we had it all planned out that we'd visit Turkey after my finals, we made a long list of what not to miss(complete with pictures), even how long we'd stay in each city that we'd decided to go to, all we had left were the plane tickets. Then about a week before the day we were supposed to leave, my dad suddenly remembered that he had a seminar he just couldn't miss! Still bummed out about the whole thing...

That sucks! There is always next time, eh? ;-)

Sucks, after weeks of dreaming about Baklava! We may go in November though :)

It's my goal to show harry more of the U.S.!! we're definitely going on a driving vacation this year.

as for places i've been, guess this is it:

US (ME, NH, VT, beautiful Massachusetts, RI, CT, NY, PA, MD, DC, VA, TN, NC, GA, FL, AL, MS, LA, TX, AZ, UT, NM -- definitely would like to see more of the west!)
Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, etc.)
Ireland (everywhere)
England (most major cities)
Scotland (Edinburgh & the highlands)
France (Strasbourg)
Germany (most major cities)
Netherlands
Portugal (everywhere)
Madeira
Aruba (never again)
Brazil (Sao Paulo)
Uruguay (Montevideo)
Argentina (Buenos Aires)
Chile (Santiago)

Some of this doesn't really count, because i used to have to travel for work, and you really don't get to see places the way you'd experience them on vacation. I'd love to see Scandinavia, Croatia & Greece.

I think you should definitely come and see Scandinavia ;o)

Sounds like you've been everywhere... I've never even been outside of Europe. I really need to broaden my horisont!

It must be amazing to drive through the States. I imagine you've got all sorts of landscapes over there; mountains, deserts, prairies... A colleague of mine took 5 weeks to drive from New York to San Fransisco with her family. Sounded amazing :o)

awww....I'd love to see Scandinavia!! Harry & I had made some serious plans to go to Denmark a few years back, but some last-minute family obligations cut our vacation time short & we wouldn't have had the time. We ended up going to Nova Scotia instead, which was nice, but I was really bummed that we didn't get to go to Denmark. Problem is, Europe is so expensive for Americans right now. I think we'll have to wait it out until the dollar gets a little stronger. Harry & I went to Portugal back in October. I had visited Portugal in the late 90s and it was such a bargain - I couldn't believe how expensive everything had gotten in such a short period of time.

The good news with the weak dollar is that the U.S. is a real bargain for European tourists right now. You should definitely visit! You're right - there are all sorts of landscapes, architecture and cultures here. If you'll want to see multiple regions, just be sure to budget enough time -- I find that my European friends tend to underestimate the size of the U.S. when they come here.

Let me know if you decide to visit. I'll give you travel tips! :o)

I certainly will! Thing is, I need someone to travel with... I've no intentions to do this competely on my own. However, if I win the lottery, I could of course just invite the whole family. And this will happen very soon, obviously lol

Actually, I do remember Harry mentioning back then that he definitely had to visit Middelfart lol. Middelfart is about 15 mins by train from here so if you ever come over, I can definitely give you some tips ;o)

heehee - that definitely sounds like something he would say. Seriously, I really wanted to go throughout Denmark, all the way up to Skagen. I know it sounds bizarre, but over the years, I've built a collection of antique Danish oil paintings. Just ask Harry - for a while there, it was like a bad drug habit I had. First, I started collecting on Ebay. After a while, Ebay wasn't enough, so I started dealing directly with auction houses in Denmark like Lauritz and Bruun Rasmussen. I've finally broken my habit, but I'd still like to see Denmark (although I suppose that this could set me back on the progress I've made!)
