exactly, they can't even SEE anything. plus the huge bells. that's the price you have to pay for being allowed to spend a few months on a mountain pasture, eating grass ;)

Wow those are some pretty floral arrangements. I would appreciate them even more if they weren't on the heads of cows. It's a good thing they are being led since yeah how in the world can they see between those flowers and bells.

Thanks for being brave like me and showing your culture's crazy.

I thought I'd done that by confessing about the "Krampus" tradition ;)

Resurrecting so non-Texas ladies who have now seen "the monstrosities that are mums" (a quote from Lindsay) in person can describe their experience.

Ok, I have seen the mums. They have not one, not two, but THREE large mum displays at the craft store.

Ok, here are some of the mum pictures we took.

The mums ranged in price from $49.99 for the "Made in China" mums (which we are modeling) to $149.99 for the "Best" mums, which I presume were made in-store by the floral designers. So, there you go. They exist and apparently are quite popular, since Homecoming is months away and the displays are already up.

It still amazes me that everyone outside of Texas never knew these crazy things existed. It must be like a whole different world down there! Haha.

Besides the mums, what else did you out-of-state girls notice that was different about the Texas lifestyle? Besides the accents, did you notice anything else unique about the people?

We noticed that Texans are extremely proud of being from Texas. Would you go to the capitol building on your wedding day and have your picture taken on the state insignia under the dome? We saw a bride do just that and Anne said lots of people have their wedding photos taken in the capitol building.

Obviously the mums that we're holding in the picture above are just pitifully small.

LOL nice. In Kentucky during the fall we have a thing homecoming week where the guys send girls mums. But its just the small flower not anything like these. All I can say is WOW! Love your pics. Anne you should open a shop and take mums to another level.

That's what I was thinking. What a rip-off! The ones we saw must be the Kmart versions of mums for the less spendy.
