Really strange, interesting lyrics. Can't wait to hear a studio version. I'm not so keen on the Frandy version but with an interesting 12 Memories sound and production, it could be great! :) It certainly has the vibes of a 12 Memories song. As far as my ears can tell anyway. lol |

those lyrics are up there with the best frans done... I'm seriously excited about hearing it in a studio version
the narrative is brilliant, a study of an aging couple still in love after many years, aging more through each verse, laced with humour through each to lighten the mood and add a different edge, and then finally a great sadness.. if you werent paying attention you would just enjoy the melody and turn of phrase, but its like his other great lyric 'beautiful', bit of subtle brilliance! |

I love the chorus of Holiday! It's a bit Dylanesque, that can't be rubbish =) |

I can't tell you how strange it was to come home from walking my dogs and read the lyrics after I just passed the home of a young man (early 40's) whose wife passed away a couple of years ago. He's a musician and she was an engineer. He is a dreamer and she was the grounding force in their family. It made me think about how some couples (and I would include my husband and me as one) just form a perfect balance that makes each one better than they would be on their own. The song really touches on one of my greatest fears. *sigh* |

Wow, now that I have the lyrics and read them (without the music), I have to say it really moved me...
I like the way Holiday sounds but As It Comes is like a poem with music, I'm beginning to like it more :) |

Holiday is great too! They mustn´t be compared because they are completely different. :)
Can´t wait for new album & tour. |

I think they can be compared because we're always comparing songs and albums in song showdowns and Travis Leagues etc. But I understand that they're both different. :) My opinion of the songs is that I hear potential in As It Comes. I just hope it's recorded and produced well because for me personally that's what'll make or break that song. But Holiday is great. I love Andy's guitar work, I love Fran's vocal. I think Holiday is certain to be great. Really can't wait to hear the studio version of Holiday. I think I like it more than most of the songs on Ode To J Smith! Could it be a single? It could have such a fun video, I think. :) |

"A 12 Memories vibe" is exactly how I described "As It Comes" when I gave my mini review of the Ferndale show in October in T-chat. I'm excited for this song! But the whole "Holiday is better than most of Ode" comment...emmm. It's an OK song, but no way! You're nuts, man! |
