Being as you are my musical sage Lauren, I've just queued up all these artists for download, being as I've never heard of any of them.
Also pinched some of the other ones listed that i haven't heard of but am curious about. Good thread this one! I'm enjoying it!
Haha I did exactly the same thing Moray. Just need to find the time to download them. Brilliant thread Lauren....I love seeing what other people love music wise...no better recommendation than that.
Ps. My wish list is getting huge now as ppl name new groups. lol |

Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid
it's a magnificent album.
What's more is that their other albums are amazing too. Been listening to Asleep in the Back and Cast Of Thousands non-stop recently. I've got Leaders of the Free World as well but I'm waiting for the others to digest before I listen to it. ;) |

will be queueing these when I get in tonight. Is the new Spiritualised album good then? I had Ladies and Gentlemen we are Floating in Space way back when, but only really listened to the title track (which is, to be fair, utterly glorious). |

It's what I've been saying for ages here. You are so right. Elbow's back catalogue is wonderful! |

Ooo, The Entire Album is just Stellar! I will recommend them to the ends of the Earth! ;) (If you like Oh, La you will like the whole thing. Promise.) I'm particularly fond of Dying is Fine though, as it's the first song I ever heard by them. (I also love the cover of Kate Bush's "Suspended in Gaffa")
I can also wholeheartedly second the Andrew Bird and Shout Out Loud recs. Our Ill Wills was one of my favorite albums from last year. :)
"Ghost Under Rocks" is awesome as well... fuck it, just listen to the whole album already! |

My top album of the year: Blood Red Shoes - Box Of Secrets.
And then... I don't know. I haven't been listening to much music this year actually. So I'll stick with :
The Raconteurs - Consolers Of The Lonely
Los Campesinos! - Hold On Now, Youngster
The Subways - All Or Nothing
Vampire Weekend
Not the best bands but it's so much fun with them :oD

People always get their panties in a twist when a magazine posts a "Best of..." list. I think Paste listed She & Him's "Volume One" as best album of the year. |
