come to Canada. Everyone talks about Our Lady Peace
well, atleast they did back when they were relevant. their recent stuff and Raine's solo stuff..not so good.
by the way, recommend any bands i should know about?, come on,don't hold out on me minn
Canadian bands?
Sam Roberts
Toyko Police Club (not to be confused with that stupid Tokio Hotel)
TRAGICALLY HIP
Arcade Fire
Broken Social Scene
I better say Great Big Sea or Kayte will get mad at me
Metric
thats my list for now...
SAM ROBERTS!! lol,
the stills
Stars
Matt Mays & El torpedo
Jason Collett
Malajube
Wintersleep is a great pretty new band
Bedouin Soundclash
the Trews
ok Ill stop now..but if you want anymore, holla;p
I meant to come back and add Stars, but forgot, so good job! I dont really like Bedouin Soundclash..they annoy me and from what ive seen are horrible live. I only know one WIntersleep song, but it is great! Matt Mays forsure! Oh and Feist. OH and Sloan! Not as good as they once were but had some pretty catchy stuff back in the day.
Sam, i will hook you up with some Sam Roberts when i get home from work.
I dunno, I like Bedouin, though I think it depends when you see them live though. twice they were good and once they were totally drunk...but everyone was ..lol and a guy threw a bottle and Jay (the lead) got totally pissed and gave him a lecture. But also Kos if your in that mood, he's pretty cool ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2KUYc-rtxU )
And for the sam roberts fan (I dont know if you can only get it outside canada but...) http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/videos.html?id=742123796
ya, i probably shouldnt judge on their live-ness bc i was going more..live to tv, not in person. So maybe their shows are better.
K-os is pretty good. He seems to have dropped off the radar a bit, but I saw him speak at my university and he is a cool guy (one of my profs called him K.O.S..it was funny).
Aww, a link to The Hour! that makes me happy!
Wow! this is really, really good, what the hell!? how did i not hear about him till now? thanks min, i like buying cds so i will be at amoeba this weekend looking for these albums
I think he only has 3 cds out, so it shouldnt be too bad (there are also a few EPs..maybe a live album? Steph would probably know better)
We Were Born in A Flame
Chemical City
Love at the End of the World
i think the last of which would be as The Sam Roberts Band..not Sam Roberts.

cool,i'll see what they have. they have some pretty smart music ppl at amoeba in case i can't find it myself, where do you shop normally?
Depends. Something popular i just hit up my local HMV...for used stuff I like this store called The Beat Goes On. They have a bunch of locations and will ship it to the store of your choice for free.
Or there is always the online options..Amazon, Chapters...

oh cool, options for cds here are dwindling mostly because everyone downloads now. i used to work at tower records, which was the best job i ever had. shortly after i quit the job for a higher paying job, the entire chain of stores closed! they went bankrupt....amoeba is still going strong because of the support it has within the community, everyone can go there to sell, buy, trade, it's great, i need a place like that, i love being able to shop for cds

We just had a big chain go under too...Music World, but I usually found HMV to have a been selection anyways. And there used to be Sam The Record Man which was a chain, but had an iconic storefront in Toronto that closed. The left the signage up though. It's really kitchy and awesome
I like the used place bc i can usually find interesting stuff, and its often cheaper. I need to go through my cd collection and trade some stuff in but..i dont know. Maybe I will someday need my horrible cd collection from when i was 13!

lol, that is awsome! i'm going to borrow this picture if you don't mind:-P i think i got rid of my collection from that age, a while back, it wasn't so bad though, i mean i had, some nirvana, which i can't stand anymore, pearl jam, smashing pumpkins, stone temple pilots, stuff like that, oh and soundgarden, remember them?
I was 13 in 1997. Therefore my musical tastes were pretty bad, lol (think Boy Bands..so sad). Well, thats not completely true..i had older brothers so i listened to some Tragically Hip, Nirvana, Live, Our Lady Peace...but a lot of it was bad. And I guess i also listened to early No Doubt, Oasis, Bush, etc at the time..so it wasnt ALL bad, but I have come a long way! lol. Yes of course I remember soundgarden.
Steal away. I just got it off google. It isnt mine.
