Thanks for all your comments guys. I wasn't originally going to bring this up on the board but Dubz sort of forced my hand a bit with his need for discussion. Having said that, it's been a real help for me to talk about it so thank you. Off for lunch, catch you later. |

Hanne, he got quite depressed after the last operation which wasn't half as serious as the one he's going to have. This worries me a lot and I think he'll need really boosting to get him off the roller coaster.
I can easily imagine that my dad would be exactly the same. I usually find that if someone around me is going through something extremely difficult, it helps if I don't treat them any differently than I would have. I know that I'd hate it if I felt that someone was pitying me or didn't really accept me the way I was.
Has he talked to a doctor about phsycological treatment after the operation?
Just a quickie reply Hanne (I'm off for some lunch now) Yes, he's supposed to have visits with a phsycologist before and after the operation so that may help. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts :-) |

Wow that is a tough one. I cannot imagine losing my vocal cords. However I do believe that you can adjust and accept many disabilities and challenges in life and find a new way of living. It seems that a positive attitude is the key to that working though.
I am sure that being in a very dark place is a completely natural reaction but I hope that over time and with some help he can still get joy out of his life.

possibly a paradox indeed.
Kind of Morays point. Why start banal nonsense threads instead of something interesting.
Exactly my point, but the irony was lost. When you hit "New Topic" Dubz, you had every opportunity to give it a really good subject, and come up with a topic yourself. YOU could have created the invigorating discussion you crave. But instead you took the negative, lazy, easy approach and lashed out.
You only get out of something what you put in. Or as Paul McCartney put it, "And in the end, the love you make, is equal to the love you give". Actually, I just put that last bit in to annoy you. |

Um, actually he said, "And in the end, the love you make, is equal to the love you make." See, make and take rhyme.
Or did you purposely misquote it to annoy both people who dislike Paul McCartney and people who do like him? Two birds with one stone kind of thing? |
