Well it's not exactly positive exposure at this point. They are proving themselves to be asshats so as I said before, I'll pass on listening to their music.

Devil's advocate.... nothing personal...

Could there be no such thing as bad press ??

Also myabe you won't listen but there's a load of lurkers and readers of the post who may want to find out either what the fuss is all about or make up their own mind, also blanket banning someone because they are an arsehole kinda means that you are not prepared to listen to great music just because someone is a wank ?

I'm fine with devil's advocate but I don't think I should be called a "twat" for talking about it.

I have thought about the whole "can you embrace the art but not the artist" issue before and have never come to a firm conclusion.

All I can say is that in this specific instance my impression of their song is that it's OK but their singer's smug attitude is off putting so I'm just not interested.

For me, it really depends on each individual artists and their behavior and my level of fondness for their work. For example, I like Tom Cruise and I know a lot of people think he's out of his mind now (me included), but I still love most of his movies, think he's a darn good actor and he's nice to look at. So I overlook the fact that he's a bit nutty these days. :) I'm trying to think of an example of an actor/band I liked but don't anymore because of their attitude...hmmm. Can't think of any at the moment.

Ok twat is a bit strong, I apologise.

And I do know what you mean about seperating the artist from the music, I can't really think of anyone (off the top of my head) who's music I just won't listen to because of the artist's behaviour/beliefs/attitude, but it is difficult not to let your judgement be completely neutral.

There are quite a few musicians/actors/etc. that I wish I knew LESS about. Once you know, it changes things to a certain degree. It's hard to respect someone's work if you know they're a jerk or a weirdo.

Coldplay did actually steal a song title from me. I wrote my song 'Lost' in about 2004/05- when they were still working on songs for X&Y.. and SUDDENLY, now apparently they have a song called 'Lost' too! And clearly they've added an ! to make people think 'nah, they didn't steal the title'. Bastards!

It's true.. :P

OK, now I am a bit peeved. According to this article
http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b143017_coldplay_accused_of_foul_play.html

Creaky Boards KNOWS Coldplay didn't plagiarize them. And yet the video is still up? I know people can repost it but don't they have some responsibility to say, "oops, my bad?"

Check this douchey quote out:

"Soon after the video blew up, I received a call from Coldplay's manager. They were really nice about the whole thing and explained about their whereabouts and old demos. I guess the song similarities are just a coincidence...great minds think alike?

"Anyway, I must have been mistaken about seeing Chris at the show because all British people look the same. I lived in London for six weeks and I seriously thought every third person on the corner was Coldplay."

"...because all British people look the same."

LMFAO! >.<

... great mind think alike ? ... what big headed prat !
