Yes I think we understand each other. And I think we share the same opinion. There is a sole inspiration for a song (or, like I said, maybe a few) but the listener can take what they hear and feel out of a song for themselves. Like I pointed out, I'm really not one for doing that. I don't read into what things mean (or into what I think they mean, or what they should mean etc) or take anything out of a song apart from whether I think it is crap, or think it is great. :)

And this thread nearly took a potentially nasty turn. Things nearly got out of hand but I think it would be best to talk more about the song, if people so wish, when the album is released. :)

well, all of this are theories as you say, i was thinking on something simplier:
i don't think could be about a war(that's what i think) i think is more personal, the album talks about a man, and looking over the net, i found chinese blues is a dark chinese ink. I don't know but i think J smith is a writer, the Ink is compared to his life. the dark tint as his life. Well i don't know, hopefully fran one day will tell us XD

here's a little description of types of blue:

...called iron blues. The most common of these pigments are Prussian, Chinese, Milori, and toning blue. Prussian blue has a reddish tint and is used almost exclusively in paints, enamels, and lacquers; Chinese blue is very dark, with a greenish tint, and is favoured for use in printing inks; Milori blue has a reddish tint; toning blue is dull, with a strong red tone. All these pigments are..

I like this interpretation, after all Fran has said that often his lyrics are not meant to be anything else but just what they say, ie no hidden meanings.
