Hi from (not so) sunny Nigeria!
There are so many, but only a few that really would have worked as singles.
FOLLOW THE LIGHT - a no-brainer for me. Sounded like a hit from the second I first played TIB. Had I been asked to pick four singles from that album I'd have said this, Sing, Side, and...
PIPE DREAMS - same as above. Really distinctive, would have done well in the charts.
MID LIFE KRYSIS - for me the most 'Invisible Band' song on 12 Memories, so probably would have given them a welcome boost in the charts having gone down the darker route.
BIG CHAIR - just sounds like a single from start to finish. Can't explain why. Because it was the first song (aside Closer at the IoW) I heard from TBWNN? Didn't even like it at first.
BATTLESHIPS - such a waste, fantastic song.

It's damn hard to pick only 3 for me. SO I will go with five tunes from the past five albums. I can do that, yeah?
- Midsummer Nights Dreamin'
- The Fear
- Last Train
- Walking Down The Hill
- Big Chair (although I am 100% that 3 Times and You Lose would be the best choice from the commercial point of view.)
Special note: B-sides are excluded. So there. |

Pipe Dreams
Somewhere Else
Good Feeling
I would add the Fear and Happy To Hang Around, but, as much as I adore those songs, I have a hard time imaging how they would've done as singles... |

How can you not love such lines: "I am gonna buy a gun, gonna shoot everything, everyone..." ;-) |
