Lydon snagged the idea from FLIPPER which predated it by 5 years ( appx ) . Flipper had opened for PIL
generics were either the blue & white or yellow & black . I've got a generic beer can floating around somewhere .

Wow...why can't I remember that Flipper album. My parents must have taken it away from me....although I think I was only listening to cassettes back then. ; )
I hate how they've ruined generic by giving it a fancy name like "President's Club" or others.
I wish I could find a picture of hte display at Tower Records in NYC when the album came out....a big huge window that just said "Promotional Display"...or something like that. |
