Kartoffel means potato and I've never considered potatos as being big germs...

i'm bloody aware Kartoffel means Potato..i studied german !
germs refers to germans.

Oh but the did! They found Newfoundland (!) but decided that they didn't really wanna be there so they went back to Greenland. The traces of them was only found a couple of centuries after Columbus so he got all the credit for 'discovering' America.
