Congestion charge warning!!!
I drove from Hertfordshire to Hammersmith Apollo a couple of weeks ago, and checked every road on my route before leaving, with the TFL website, to see if I needed to pay the charge.
The answer was no, I didn't. BUT, I took a slight wrong turn, ended up about 10 yards inside the zone without knowing. I was in it for a matter of seconds, as I turned around to put myself right.
Result, £50 bill.
Was not a happy bunny.
Do check every road on your route, cos even tho Hammersmith Apollo isn't within the zone, you might end up driving through it.
Good luck!
ps. I'm driving there again tomorrow, and taking a chance on finding it first time!!!
that sucks..sometime, just sometimes, i'm glad i don't drive! |

I've appealed, on the grounds of what they call mitigating circumstances, cos it was a genuine mistake. But the bottom line is I entered the zone without paying, so I don't think I'll win the appeal.
Problem is I hate that bit of the underground, the last stretch that gets you to the Hammersmith end of the line. I'd prefer an hour's drive, and an alcohol free evening, to that journey.
Travis management please note: pls can we avoid Hammersmith for future gigs, for reasons above???? Thank you!
(reckon they'll listen???)
Still, am hyper with anticipation about tomorrow, and next Tuesday. Am on a Travis roller coaster, and don't want to get off!
Hope to share the excitement with you tomorrow. |

Hammersmith is on our side of London so it's the only venue we can drive to really. Thus I like many gigs to be there! |

Can't please everyone all of the time, but I can't ever see the day Travis do a gig in Watford, can you?!?! That would make me a very happy camper indeed!!!
To be fair, Koko and all the other Camden and Kentish venues work well for me!
And distance aside, I'm not mad about the layout of Hammersmith. Being short, I can only get a view of the stage if I arrive at dawn, or whatever time it takes to guarantee front row. Sadly work won't allow it.... :( |

Nope but I'm in N London, so the trains are easy. Are you?
Mind you, not much stops me getting about to gigs in other places. Travis in Amsterdam next week, Athlete in Leeds hopefully in July. :) |

Umm...you could break your legs and go in the disabled platform? :s
Amsterdam will be amazing, the Melkweg is so pretty (and small). Jealous. |
