I sorta like the idea of workin in an office and crunching numbers n stuff... Maybe I should be a sexy secretary instead, that'd be fun times. |

I do some accounting for my office. We send the tax stuff to an actual one but I do the monthly reconciling of all the accounts. There are 5 bank accounts, 5 credit cards, and 2 lines of credit. I must say I get a geeky thrill when I get it all sorted - usually on the first try.
I know someone whose eccentric uncle who is an accountant. (He's weird for reasons totally unrelated to his profession) He likes to wane philosophically about accounting and says that it's really not about numbers but rather geography and putting things where they belong.
OK. |

No, no, no, go back to accountant.
Secretary:
Office peon
Loads of work
Low pay
Disrespect
Expected to be friendly and perky at all times
Have to be polite on the phone all day even when overly-confident salesmen call and think they are charming and smooth and oh, so humorous.
Accountant:
Can shut the door and ignore people
Has seasons of lighter work loads
High pay--so you can actually go on vacation
Respected
You don't have to be nice, you just have to do your job right.
Accountant all the way. Go sign up now...go on. Go. |

I don't think that accounting nowadays can be considered as boring since in the last few years there have been some beautiful examples of creative accounting (especially here in italy...)
so go for it loose all your creativity and immagination! |

I'm just going to take a wild guess that LG is not concerned with fitting in with the other accountants or their stereotype. |

go for it lady. if that's what you wanna do, at least try it out-what's there to lose in trying out something that you think you have all the skills to be good at.you are young yet and therefore allowed to arse about finding yourself for a while.
cool thing about being an accountant is that numbers are the same world over, you can take that qualification and travel anywhere you want and be your own boss taking on work at your leisure.
you could end up being an accountant for your favourite band and go on tour with them-who knows where it could go?
go your own way and don't give a fuck about what people's expectations of what an accountant should be, and i know you won't give a fuck because you strike me as a very strong admirable person.
whatever you do-be yourself
