Because humans and dolphins are the only mammals that have sex for pleasure, so cats only have sex to have kitties anyway.
I wish I knew more useful things. |

I never get these kinds of riddles right, but here's my shot at it :P
7 kids x 2 legs = 14 legs
7 cats x 4 legs = 28 legs
49 kittens x 4 legs = 196 legs
= 224 legs?

14+28+196 is 238 =P but i agree with your thingyness. Do we win something? 7 kittens perhaps? |

Hey Moray, Casper says that 10990 sounds close (hint from teacher) but how on earth did you get that figure?
7 girls, 7 bags, 7 cats, 7 kittens. So:
7 kittens = 28 legs
7 kittens per cat, 7 cats in a bag, so 196 kittens legs in a bag.
7 cats = 28 legs.
Cat + kittens = 224 legs in a bag
7 bags per kid, so 1568 cats legs per kid.
7 kids, so 10976 cats legs in total
7 kids with 14 legs give 10990
:o)

I think your answer is wrong. Read the question, each kid has ONE bag!
A bus with seven children,
Each child has a backpack
In every backpack there is seven cats,
Every cat has seven kittens.
How many legs do they have? <--Are we supposed to count the legs of the children because it says 'they'? Well either way:
If you count children's legs:
1 backpack= 7 cats + (7 x 7 kittens)
=7 cats + 49 kittens
=56 cats/kittens per bag
56 x 4legs=224 <---Number of legs of cats AND kittens per bag
224 x 7 bags= 1568
7 children x 2 legs=14 legs
14 + 1568=1582
If you don't count children's legs: 1568 |

If you read back, smarty people, I already said that the answer is 1582 to Edel's problem.
But this puzzle has been on the go for years, and it usually has 7 bags per kid, not one. So I also gave that answer. |

I've a mate who uses that phrase all the time... for example "David Bowie is hugely talented but is mad as a bag of cats!!"
