I like threads like this, it makes finding new bands to listen to easy :) I'm definitely going to check out VW and maybe MGMT or Fleet Foxes.
For me this year has been all about
Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid
it's a magnificent album. Also worthy of mention (I can't think of any others that demand a mention, I've not bought many new CDs this year):
Coldplay - Viva la Vida
Delays - Everything's The Rush |

For the record, I didn't like Ode... :-O
1. The Seldom Seen Kid - Elbow
2. The Midnight Organ Fight - Frightened Rabbit
3. Little Death - Pete & The Pirates
4. This Is Not The World - The Futureheads
5. Intimacy - Bloc Party
I think... |

(I have to admit, I haven't listened to it - no money to buy more music... but I know someone who definitely bought it...) |

As with anything, I wouldn't say you'll love it or even like it because I have no idea what floats your musical boat. But here's my opinion:
I absolutely adore it in pretty much every way. It has an incredible vibrance even in the slowest songs and every song is truly special, in a unique Elbow way. I would trade in a lot of my music collection for this record alone.
Thanks once again to Tonie for introducing me to them :) |

Paul Weller - 22 Dreams
The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age Of The Understatement

Saw them when The Kooks, Rogue Wave, & Death Cab all played at City Market. I thought they were pretty good. |
