I think neither Sarah nor Used to Belong fit on the album, but I love them both to pieces. I actually like Used better than Sarah, though.
I thought it was really cheesy at first too, but half-way through the song I was crying and didn't even know why xD It's just brilliant.
My favourite bit is the 'Take away the pain /Take away the goods/ Hold me like a child/ See me like you should' and than the 'Go to sleep' etc. repetition with Dougie's voice echoing the last words of each sentence. It give me shivers each and every time.
(Sorry for the awkward description, if I knew any music-related technical english word better, it'd be easier xD My english just fails me sometimes)

I liked Used To Belong.Fran's voice is so lovely. But I think beats(is it the right word?) are annoying.Neil could do better.
And Tail Of The Tiger is stuck in my head!
Does anyone have lyrics? |

For me, Used to Belong and Sarah probably take 1st and 2nd place (not sure in which order) in my all-time b-side list. They're both gorgeous. Sarah so delicate, so beautiful from start to finish, Used To Belong with all the emotion and Fran's voice sweeping beautifully through it.
I think both would have fitted on the album, personally. And I think both are far better songs than at least a third of the album proper. That's no criticism of Ode, just that these two tracks are so damn good.
I liked what they did on Good Feeling, going through the rocky stuff then bringing it back down to earth at the end, closing with the delicate More Than Us, Falling Down and Funny thing and (deliberately or not) creating a bit of a bridge to The Man Who. I reckon Sarah could have slotted in just ahead of BYWY and done exactly the same, with Used To Belong fitting in pretty much anywhere. |

This song rocks! Definitely would be perfect on the album, without replacing any other song.. |

Especially this part of the song blows me away.
"Go to sleep,go to sleep
and tell me that you'll dream of me
Wake up in a river lying next to me
.." |

Where can I listen to this Used to Belong/any other b-sides for J. Smith? I've heard Tail of the Tiger and love it! |
