hm, he pronounces Youtube like "You-tchoob"... is that normal, or Canadian or just strange? ;)
you-tchoob? that's odd.
You need to find out where the vampire is from. |

hm maybe that's just him trying to sound "not Canadian"? he said he'll drop his passport and get a German one next spring "with no regrets", so I think it might be difficult to find out where exactly he's from, but I'll try!
(I guess it wouldn't help if I told you he likes the Carpenters and Miami Vice...)

I'm so tired today..
Had these awful nightmares about my boss trying to kill me because I had put my ass in the copier....
Then at 5.00 AM I got a textmessage from a friend, that woke me up. Who the hell sends textmessages that early?!?!
After that I couldn't go back to sleep... |

sorry angel Posted Thu 20 Nov, 2008 3:49 PM |
Today I looked after Clyde who's a bit ill, got a hair cut at home by my friend Magali, cooked lunch for us and my friend, emptied the ashes of the fireplace, vacummed, did a load of washing, washing up and all that jazz, waxed furnitures (!!), debated whether we should sell our house and move back to London...and now I will go and pick the washing wich hopefully should be dry. I also looked for properties in London on the interweb...checked my emails, facebook...and am off to a political meeting in an hour.
Voila, don't you love my housewive career? Cause part of me does and another one is really bored...surprised?
BTW Absy and I speak on the phone but haven't had a chance in a good while.

Yes, when someone sneezes. Usually we just say "Bless you" or "God bless you," but some people say Gesundheit. I have no idea why we chose to say it in German rather than some other language, but yes. |

Gesundheit is a fine word, maybe that's the reason. After spending some time in Germany we use some German words that seem to express certain subjects better than English words would. For example there's the word "Nebenkosten", which covers all sorts of extra expenses a tenant has to pay on top of the rent (heating, water etc, can't remember what, Lilly, help!!). Convinient way to say it in one word.
Finland is a bi-lingual country, the majority speaks Finnish and about 5 % Swedish. I happen to live in an area with a reasonably high amount of Swedish speakers, and it's interesting to hear them use Finnish words that don't have a straight translation into Swedish. One word like that is "tuliaiset", which means a gift you take to the hosts when you go and visit them in their home. It also means something you bring back from a trip. Sort of coming in present.
You could always say "terveydeksi" when somebody sneezes… |
