I am super excited because she is the only family member who is able to visit from across the pond. I haven't seen any of my family or friends for 5 months!
The pressure is on because this is the first Thanksgiving dinner I've ever made and I have to do it w/ the limited resources provided by English grocery stores. I think I can manage somehow though.
hmm... maybe I should just ask the British natives...
I've been searching the stores and I think I can manage most dishes I want to make, but do you guys have pumpkin pie, or even just some sort of filling for it? How about cranberry sauce?
I think those are the only 2 things I would really like to have, but have not found.
Glad you get to see your sister. That will be nice. There might be some stores that sell the filling - but obviously I wouldn't really know. You can make it yourself but it seems like a big pain in the butt to me. Maybe your sister could just bring a few cans of it?
I'm sure your sister won't be expecting an exact replica of an American Thanksgiving over in England. Y'all will have a lovely time eating whatever.
We are staying home this year (for the first time in about 5 years) and I just can't be bothered to cook a whole lot. I've ordered a turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, and dressing from Whole Foods so that will be gooooood. Then I can just make a few sides and desserts and enjoy the whole thing way more than if I made everything. |

and you can just make cranberry sauce. With, you know, cranberries.
Unless you are after that canned jello-y kind that has the ridges from the can built right in and makes a noise when you dump it out |

I got my tickets for Radiohead gigs... 2 dates, one little bunny -me!- and hours and hours standing outside from the recordstore trying to get a ticket...
I'm tired but the tickets worth it!!
ps- just for imagine what means Radiohead in Mexico, some facts:
-Their last visit was in 1994... 15 years!!!
-Radiohead has been one of the band who everybody wants to see them in Mexico but, until a week ago, was an impossible dream
-the tickets got to sale today wednesday 11/19 at 11.00 am... well... there was people standing outside from the tickets office since last sunday at 4.00 pm... sleeping on the street -me incluided, but since yesterday- and the counting outside from the main tickets office was more than 1,500 people...and the venue is for 50,000 people...
-and the tickets was sold out in 30 minutes!!
that's why I'm sooo proud for my tickets!! woooohaaaaa!!! |

today, our English-lecturer (read "vampire") from Canada said we will do something special next week: as there will be no presentation, we will (wait for it...) watch videos on BINGE DRINKING on YOUTUBE for 1,5 hours!!! (btw, "binge drinking" is one of the 20 horrible topics I might have to talk about in one of my oral exams next spring)
...
hm, he pronounces Youtube like "You-tchoob"... is that normal, or Canadian or just strange? ;) |
