When I reviewed the October NY show, I said that it was the best acoustic set that I had ever seen. This show was entertaining, and the band offered nice renditions of Holiday, Shadow Boxing, Fly In The Ointment, Anything, and Sierra Leone. I preferred Fran's solo rendition of the rest of the album. The solo Travis material was reminiscent of City Winery w/requests; forgotten lyrics, etc. Unfortunately, with a band on stage, it was difficult not drawing comparisons to Travis. This group felt a bit thrown together, although the strings were quite good. There have been voids over the years in Travis activity, and Fran's efforts are filling that void. He spoke of meeting with Travis early next year to discuss the future. Who knows, who knows, as they say! If it doesn't work out for now, Fran should put together a group befitting his excellence.
