This was my favorite Travis show.
I was there with 3 other great Travis friends. slime, Fotini and I left NYC sometime around 3am to catch a bus to Washington DC. We got to the venue at 9, clearly the first ones there, and spent the rest of the hours sleeping on the ground in the sketchy neighborhood outside of the club, watched over by the large rotund and tattooed man I loving dubbed the Buddha Hell's Angel. The road crew kept an eye on us as they made their way in and out.

We talked to Remy Zero when they came. We all giggled a lot. When Travis came, I took silly face pictures with them. We kicked back and had a ball. The heat got to us after awhile, and Helen came out and asked if we'd like to go in and watch the soundcheck. We jumped to it. For the first time, I heard Indefinitely. We passed around napkins and tissues to sop up the tears that welled in our eyes at the beauty of the song.

The show itself was amazing. We were front row center, and the energy was mad. We laughed, we cried, we made merry. We nearly died with happiness during Dusty's proposal to his girlfriend, and then jumped with glee during Flowers In The Window which was dedicated to them.

The band played Happy, which I'd been begging for. I also heard one of the best All I Wanna Do Is Rocks at this show.

After the show, everyone stayed around to hang with the band. Every band member stuck around and signed as much as he could. While we were running around like fools, Greg from Remy Zero asked if we'd like to tour their bus as I had mentioned earlier that I bet it was as nice as Travis (it wasn't - their shower didn't quite work). While we were on the RZ bus, guitar tech Nick told Fotini that she was on eternal crack.

We got a ride from a lovely fellow Travis fan named Betsy back to NYC. Sometime around 330am, we passed Travis's tour bus on our way north to NYC. I got home at 5am, and fell asleep at 6. I would be up again in 5-6 hours to see Travis again at Radio City.

My first Travis show and maybe the best show I've ever seen by anybody, period. I was in the second row and right in front of Dougie. This was only a few weeks after 9/11, and Fran took the opportunity to tell the crowd how much they'd been thinking of the country, and that there was never any truth to the rumors that they would cancel their US tour in the wake of the attacks. The set list was great, all The Man Who and The Invisible Band along with a show closing "Happy" thrown in for good measure. They even did "Baby One More Time" which was great, and the encore included a cover of "All The Young Dudes." "Twenty" was the highlight for me as far as song selection goes, but the best part of the night came after the show. After finishing "Happy," the band left the stage, slapping hands with the crowd, so I stuck my hand out. As Fran got to the end of the stage, he pivoted, looked right at me, wound up, and slapped me five. Too many other higlights to include them all here. A guy proposed to his girlfriend on stage before "Flowers in the Window." Fran used his guitar like a cello during the opening of "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?" Most of all I just remember them ENJOYING themselves on stage. They seemed to be having as much fun as the crowd, and their "rock star" jumping leg kicks throughout the night seemed to indicate this. Even when Fran slapped me five, it wasn't like some big important rock star was doing me a favor and slapping me five, it was like he was excited. Maybe I'm just full of myself, but seeing as how I was the last person he slapped five before he left the stage, it was like the band just played an awesome show, they knew it, and he was so pumped that he wasn't gonna just touch my hand, he had to wind up, and slap it hard. Great show.
