Pipe Dreams has never really been one of my favorite songs, but since my dad died this past summer it's become a pretty important song for me. While I was working on a photo gallery for the funeral it played randomly on my iTunes and the lyric "I'd pray to god if there was heaven/But heaven seems so very far from here" was quite seriously the perfect summary of exactly how I was feeling at that moment.
My other favorite lyrics include from Turn: "I want to sing/To sing my song/I want to live in a world where I'll be strong/I want to live/I will survive" because I think it's an inspiring ideal by which to live; and from I Love You Anyways: "I think you should be framed/In some fine art gallery." No real philosophical reason; I've always thought it's simply a pretty image. |
