Did you have a hankering for something sweet when you first heard the song?
Hehe, I don't think I'd ever even seen a Flan at the point in my life where I first heard this song. I just didn't know what the heck he was saying and it sounded like "Flan" lol! |

I should get my wee sister on this one, she's brilliant for misinterprited lyrics!
Off the top of my head the one I remember is Hansen "Mmmm Bop"
What I thought:
"It's going to be a Cheesey-o"
What they sang:
"It's going to be a daisy or a rose" |

Ooh I'm a mondegreen nut! When I first heard 'Battleships', I thought the lyrics went "We're battleships, drifting in an alley river...", don't ask me what that is ;)
Another Travis one:
But life is both a major and a monarchy(minor key),
Just open up the core(chord)...
And my favourite, which I found on kissthisguy.com:
from Bohemian Rhapsody:
Save him, his life, from his warm sausage tea
(Save him, his life from this monstrosity)

Another Bohemian Rhapsody one:
".....Has a Devil for a Sideboard, wheee!"
(.....Has a Devil Put aside for me)

A Finnish journalist Antti Isokangas has made two books of these. An idea apparently copied from USA.
I was wondering if your native language or country effects the way you hear English lyrics wrong. I wouldn't hear So lonely Sue Lawly, 'cause I don't know her. |

When I was a kid, my mom used to sing this song to me. She always sang it as, "One silly goose, silly goose, silly goose, silly goose, silly goose, silly goose-ah."
One thousandth post!

woohoo katye! :)
ok, hum...
i sang:
"Latin plastic, it's fantastic"
should be:
"life in plastic, it's fantastic'
Barbie Girl - Aqua
and:
"New York to San Francisco, caliente on the disco"
should be:
"New York to San Francisco, an intercity disco"
The Vengabus is Coming - Vengaboys

I won't say what I hear when I listen songs in English, hahaha, sometimes what I understand doesn't make sense, and when I read the lyrics I say: ooohhh! that's what lyrics say :p I feel ridiculous.
An example in Spanish. When Juanes sings in la camisa negra qué maldita mala suerte la mía, I understood something like "malazu" hahaha. Of course, that word doesn't exist XD |

The theme from Flashdance "What a Feeling"
Anne heard:
Take your pants off/And make it happen
But really it says:
Take your passion/And make it happen
But considering the movie I think it made sense! |

The most recent one that comes to my mind is Goodbye Mr A by The Hoosiers,
I've been singing "You could sigh and say magic" and a lot of people seem to think it too from those lyric sites but the actual official lyrics in the album are actually "You claim science ain't magic". |

A famous Céline Dion misinterpretation (forgot which comedian pointed it out).
"And I know that the hotdogs gone one(heart does)"
Really dislike Céline Dion's stuff, mind you. |
