Davie_G, I see that you're fairly new. (or perhaps you've been a lurker and just started posting) I just wanted you to note that this is very typical: you post one thing and your thread is hijacked! We all love the tangents here.... |

Of course this thread is now null and void as a certain Puma cub who shall remain nameless came up with the absurd notion that I could actually be wrong.
For shame, Puma cub, for shame.

It's always been the same around here. I remember when it was all fields and stuff...
I've only been dipping in and out over the past few years, but I was a regular around the turn of the century. And now I'm feeling very old :( |

I question how much yanks really understand their own sports. I went to see a game of american fitba with an american. It was the euro bowl final at hampden. Anyway, I'd never really watched american football before, so asked the question - "This is basically the same as rugby yeah? Its all about working the hard yards to gain territory, to get yourself in a position to score a touchdown".
He said no. I say yes it is!
Anyway, it was a boring sport, as the majority of it was taken up with ad breaks and changing up teams to get a bazillion players involved. And its mainly about quoting inane statistics at each other after the game is done. |
