I think that Why Does It Always Rain On Me was the first Travis song I heard, but it was not until the summer of 2009, when one of my friends posted the Reoffender video on Facebook I think, and I decided to look more deeply into the music. After that I couldn't stop listening. Shortly after that I signed up on this board and I have met nothing but friendly people. I spend some time on the chat that one of the board members had set up and had some fun times there. I really like the atmosphere on this board and I won't be leaving anytime soon.

I'm really looking forward to the new album, I've only been to one live show and although it was only Fran performing (Copenhagen, March 2011) I really enjoyed it. I liked the little stories that came with each song. I hope you'll come to Denmark and promote your new album so I get to see the entire band perform :)

I have dipped in and out of the messageboard over the years - mainly to keep an eye on the latest travis news - but rarely posting.

I joined when I was studying in Glasgow and lived in Maryhill (actually, it was Firhill, a classy neighbouring area).

The Man Who brought me to Travis. I moved with my family to England when I was 15 (summer '99) and Rain was the first Travis song I can remember hearing. I would cry my eyes out listening to that song on repeat on my old cd player, missing my friends and sitting in my bed feeling sorry for myself.

That album remains one of my favourite of all time. It's understated beauty and innocence - the way the record hangs together from start to finish - the artwork. It really is a standout record from that era.

From there, I bought Good Feeling and began evangelising by giving copies of Travis records as birthday presents to friends.

I was listening to radio 1 when they had the first play of Coming Around - which I recorded on cassette and listened to -on loop- an insane number of times.

My Dad bought me the Invisible Band. I remember him coming into my room and giving it to me. Dear diary moment.

Glasgow. University. Iraq. Flirting with socialism. Oh, to be young. Travis release 12 memories.

I could go on but that's the story. Look forward to the next record.

Johnny

I'm just gonna say how glad I am for being a part of this messageboard for so many years and how glad I am that a band like you exists in our lives..

With all my love,

It has literally been years since I've posted anything or visited the site, but something made me stop by today and I'm so glad I did. So excited to read about Album 7! Cheers from Boston!

Aw, man, it's so good to come back and find posts like this.
I've missed you and this messageboard in these years. Life, as usual, got in the way, bad things happend as good things, well, mostly good.
And I'm happy to see I can still read some known nicknames.
It's good to be back, even though I'm still mostly lurking around without posting.

Still, it's good to feel home even though I haven't been here for like three years...
So thanks.

Aww, thanks for your post, Fran. I also feared for bad news to begin with.

I only found Travisonline by buying The Boy With No Name CD on a holiday in England, as the website was mentioned in the cover. I remember spotting the album at HMW in Leeds, and thinking, isn't that the band I've got a few cd's by already (and totally loving them)? I didn't even know who's who in the pictures, just loved the music in TMW, TIB and Good Feeling. Somehow the 12th Memory was never advertised in Finland, so that when I found about it, it was Christmas all over.

Anyways, I've only been here since 2007 and missed a lot of previous excitement, but right from the start this place has been kind of home in the Interwebs for me. I've got to know loads of cool people, participated in all sorts of activities, and got tips for some new music, too (none of which has taken Travis' place in my heart). I check out the site every day just to see if the band or my boardie friends have something to report.

As for new music, my husband and I went to see Fran solo in Rome last year (amazing gig!). We saw the local support, Sprained Cookies, again earlier this year, and now the guitarist of the band is coming to Helsinki with some jazzy combination. Hadn't it been for Travisonline, Travis and Fran, we wouldn't have made the connection, as it is, we're looking forward to some Italian warmth to the Nordic Winter.

The new album sounds wery promising! I really can't wait for it to be released!

Awww <3 thanks for the lovely message Fran. This message board has led to hilarious conversations, fun adventures, and great friendships. It is crazy how many great memories I can trace back to this wee little place. So excited that you're recording again!

P.S. Natasa, Harry Potter just said he wanted to move on. He pops in every once in awhile.

Reading this has made me realize that I've been on and off this place for 12+ years now. When I first joined up, I was a single party girl, now I'm a married mother of 2 who parties once every 6 months, haha. This place broke me of my stereotype of what the internet was like... I first thought these messageboards were for nerds with no lives, but through the years I've made real friends and have met several in person, no more nerdy than myself ;) Now, I'm feeling all nostalgic and stuff...

Fran how could you forget the most important thing in your spiel!

We are monkeys!

To think the first time I saw you was nearly kyboshed when your guitar was nicked from the truck in Glasgow before sailing across the Irish Sea to Belfast and luckily found in a pawn shop of all places hours before hand.

Ah where does time go.

Keep the faith. We still believe.
