Theory of evolution is a well-documented scientific theory. It never claims to disprove any "creator"s of nature, it merely states the mechanism of the natural selection and how it and different genetic factors effect the change in the species. It does irritate the believers because it is totally in contradiction with religious texts.

"Abiogenesis" theory investigates the origin of life ( how the very first cell emerged) which is, unfortunately, not very well supported as Toe is, but I think scientists are getting there.
