Mario has been voted the No1 video game character of all time. The platform-jumping plumber, who first appeared in 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong before forming the Super Mario Brothers team with sibling Luigi, topped a poll of 13,000 people for the Guinness

Lara & Snake for me, surprised Agent 42 from Hitman series not appearing or Gabe Logan(?) from Syphon Filter series.
Why is it called Donkey Kong when there are no Donkeys in it ??

I don't know but Mario was originally meant to be called jumpman. That's always amused me.

| I reckon Sonic would have been higher if they didn't completely ruin his character from Dreamcast onwards. Original Sonic FTW! Also Mario, Link, Yoshi, Pikachu, Samus (can you tell I'm a Nintendo fan?) FTW! Ok I'll stop geeking out now. |
