Very true, it's usually down to a lack of taking a note or not passing on the message. I had to get into the habit of writing everything down when I moved here and started working in offices.

Getting back to language...
the French phrase "Mon Cher" is a lot closer to the Irish "Moi Chroi" (Moe kree, My Heart) than it is to the English "My Dear".
