That looks suspiciously like Krapfen! Central European origin for both, of course!

A custom brought by Polish immigrants, I believe.

I really want pancakes but won't be home until 10ish.
Dinner will probably consist of a sandwich or something that I grab between work and class. Boo! Lamest Shrove Tuesday ever!

Indeed, and after reading Wikipedia, here's the answer to my question:
In German and Danish, they are called Berliner. In Austria they are called Krapfen.

And since Munich (and Bavaria) is pretty close to Austria, it's only logical that they should use a different name to the rest of Germany…
Jam donuts with (pink) icing are called Berlin donuts here, now I know why.

We don't cellebrate that in Argentina. I wish we had a pancake day or a day to eat any of those delicious things you posted!
I can't believe people don't do anything preparing for Lent here. I don't even think we do anything special during Lent... I don't remember doing anything like this even from my days as a catholic when I was a kid. I must ask some christian friends.

Meanwhile, my aunt and one of my cousins are coming to town and are having dinner at my house tonight, so my mum baked a chocolate cake with cream and dulce de leche... at least I'll be eating something sweet and delicious, even if it doesn't have anything to do with pancake day :oP

We don't have pancake Tuesday as well. But who cares. I am gonna make nutella-pancake once I get rid of work tonight. Does that count? Nutella with pancake?
